Do you hear the way they CHEERED when he was saying very seriously that he didn’t want to be accused of queerbaiting?
He was acknowledging it as an issue and how it upsets and frustrates him that people would take stuff he’d said as evidence that he’s not supportive of the LGBTQ+ community or that he doesn’t care about LGBTQ+ issues, when he really tries to be and he does. All the while without actually putting down anyone for those assumptions, or so it sounds to me.
But fuck, as soon as he mentioned being worried that his answer might be called queerbaiting the audience just start cheering like that’s a JOKE. Like they thought he was MOCKING the fans concerned about queerbaiting, and they were cheering in support of that mocking…
I mean. Damn.
I’m impressed how Misha doesn’t let that cheering phase him though. He just doesn’t acknowledge it, basically, and keeps talking seriously.
And I think what he says about Dean and Cas is great :) Of course he can’t say ‘yes they are in love’ or ‘no they are not in love,’ but he acknowledges that there is definitely something there. Which is all we really want at this stage, imo. Perfect answer is perfect. Excellent question was excellent.
Actually I feel like now we have this, no more questions about Cas’ feelings for Dean are necessary. This is the answer we’ve been waiting for. No need for anymore Dean/Cas questions to Misha until something specific happens in the show to warrant being asked about :)
That’s a very interesting topic because it’s one that really upsets a lot of people in one way or another. I probably shouldn’t talk about it - I shouldn’t talk about it. In fact, that should probably be the right answer. I shouldn’t talk about it. No comment? Plead the fifth?
There is clearly a very, very profound bond between the two. And I will leave it to you to read into that what you will, because I don’t want to be accused of queerbaiting or any of these other things that I am not doing.
Doing something like this, you have the opportunity to reach a lot of people, and that’s a really gratifying and lovely experience. You also have the opportunity to very easily piss off a lot of people. That can be lovely as well. But I sometimes have to resist the temptation to engage, like, “Hold on you fuckers, that’s not - “
I did a convention in Seattle. I don’t know what it was I said or what transpired, I don’t know what it was. But people got upset and I feel like it was really unfair, what was said.
First of all, I think the term “queerbaiting” is not accurate. It pissed me off, because I feel like a real champion of that community with all those letters [LGBTQA] - you know, I’ve officiated gay weddings. Also, I don’t know understand what the term means.
At the same time, it’s imbued with a lot of meaning in a lot of ways and there are a million different interpretations open. I hesitate to call it an artform, but it is one, especially when Ben [Edlund] is writing. It’s a lot of things. It’s deep and meaningful.
Is it love? Probably. What does that mean? It’s a million different things. At the very least, it’s a complex relationship. One of them is a celestial wavelength of intent, which is obviously a difficult kind of being to have a relationship with. “Yeah, you know, my boyfriend, he’s great, but he’s a celestial wavelength of intent. So a lot of times, when he sleeps over, I don’t know what’s going on. Because he’s there and then he’s not there and then he’s back again and then he’s in my head, literally in my head”
So yeah, it’s a very intense relationship. Let’s leave it at that. What is that? Am I a politician? They love each other, but it’s purely sexual.

So I recently saw the ‘Mishapocalypse #2’ post, and, well… I quite frankly think it’s a bad idea. For several reasons.
1) The first one was basically one massive April Fools Day prank. And even then, a lot of people got fed up with it very quickly. Doing it again, midway through the year? I don’t think that’s going to go over so well. (Not to mention, shouldn’t Mishapocalypse 2 be preserved until April 1st next year?)
2)The idea for #2, as I understand it, was to do it on Misha’s birthday. Well, why? Why not do something for Misha on his birthday, instead of doing something that’s not actually anything for Misha, and is probably just going to get a lot of people mad at the SPN fandom?
As such, tumblr user charliefishxd had a good idea; why don’t we all donate to Random Acts, Misha’s charity organization, instead?
SO, I propose a movement; instead of Mishapocalypse #2, why don’t we make August 20th Not-So-Random Acts day? On the 20th, everyone try to donate what you can to Random Acts. And, if you can’t donate, make something to promote others to donate, and we can spread those around like wildfire. Maybe photoshop the Random Acts logo onto random nonsensical things?
Basically, instead of taking over tumblr with photoshopped pictures of Misha’s face, let’s take over tumblr with promotions for Random acts.Think like VlogBrothers’s Project for Awesome, where nerdfighters take over the front page of youtube with videos promoting different charities. It’ll be participant’s job to search out other Randoms Acts promos and reblog them.
